REASONS WHY YOU ARE NOT GETTING SALES/ORDERS ON FIVERR

This article was written to address the basic question asked by most newbies on Fiverr on why they are not making sales as much as they should. Here are my suggestions based on my own personal experience working on Fiverr.
  1. Use the appropriate tags: In creating your gig on fiverr: you will notice at the down part of the first gig page where you are asked to input tags. Tags are what make your gig searchable. They are the keywords which buyers can use to search and locate your gig. If you want to know the right tags to use, simply search for your gig and see the first ten gigs that will be displayed on the front page. Copy the tags from the first four gigs and use as your tag. When those gigs are searched, your gig will also pop up to the front page.
  2. Send a compelling request in the buyers’ request: I don’t really want to say that newbies use buyers’ request to start their journey on fiverr because even old sellers resort to this page when their Orders are low. So you can see that this is a very competitive page on Fiverr. You are  a level zero seller competing with a level two seller for the same job, so how do you write your proposal to win over the bid?

  • Write offer that is relevant to the request of the buyer:  Don’t send a generic reply like “I will do it for you”, you will do what exactly? Try to mention what the buyer is trying to buy, explain how you can do the job and all the tools, software and method you intend to use to do the job. Try as much as you can to convince the buyer.
  •  Don’t overprice yourself: this is one of the mistakes some sellers make on fiverr. Fiverr is a highly competitive platform, as such, the lower your bid, and the more chances of you wining the bid. This does not in any way imply that you should underbid yourself as it could also translate to you not knowing what the work actually entails. Imagine a seller bidding for web design for $10 when the minimum most sellers use to do the same job is $150. This has already shown that you don’t know the work that is required of you. In summary, bid the amount that is suitable for a particular job.
  • Don’t send offer after the 10th offer has been sent: When sending your offers, ensure you target the first ten slots. Chances are that buyers don’t read beyond the tenth offer and always sending your offer from the fifteenth to the thirty fifth people limits your chances of getting hired and also amounts to wasting your offer as you have limited offer of 10 per day to make.
  • Proofread your offer before you send: most sellers hurriedly send offers with lots of grammatical errors because they want to rush to the next request. What shall it profit you to send 10 offers without getting a single sale? Calm yourself down, write your offer/proposal and proofread it to ensure that it is free from grammatical blunders.

  •          Mention that you will send sample of even do a free sample for the buyer: this will catch the attention of most buyers when you promise to do a free sample of the job they requested for. One thing is to get a message and another is to get an Order. So, it is better to get a message with your proposal even though the buyer may not demand for all that you have written on your proposal.

  •       Mention the buyer’s name and your name: instead of saying Hi, for example, why not say: “Hi Sagaciousguru, I can see that you need the service of …, My name is Ken and I am very proficient in doing this and that, then proceed to use the aforementioned method of stating how you would carry out the task.


Ensure you are constantly online: imagine a buyer sending you message and you are replying it six hours later. Definitely, you should know that the buyer most have gotten another seller. Another advantage of staying online as often as you can is that, after sending request, buyers most times reply to people that are online and not just that, the first person to reply to their message gets the job. Yes, in most cases, buyers don’t just message one seller and go to bed. They send message to as much as 4-5 sellers and wait for who among them will reply fast. This explains the reason why some buyers will ignore your message after sending you message and you are replying few hours later.

4. Advertise your gig on social media: You can use social media like Facebook, twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc., to advertise your gig. The advantage of doing this is that even if you didn’t get this people to buy from you, you can get clicks and visits from them and this increases the chances of your gig appearing on fiverr search engine. You can use paid adverts like Google Adwords, paid Facebook ads to also advertise your gigs and get jobs.

5. Manage your clients very well: when you eventually get a buyer, try as much as you can to manage your relationship with him/her in order to receive five stars rating. This of course increases your chances of getting another job and your gig appearing on the first page of fiverr search.

5,  Don’t be too desperate: desperation could prevent you from getting a job. This can be sensed by buyers from the way you write your proposal or your reply their messages through the inbox. Don’t try too hard to impress. Just be yourself and sound as professional as you can because fiverr just like the physical world needs some elements of professionalism.
