WHAT YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO DO BEFORE YOU GRADUATE

1. BASIC COMPUTER SKILL:
This is a must have for any graduate of this contemporary time. Gone were the days of analogue office work. Now, any graduate that wants to be relevant in the job market or even to himself if he wants to be self-employed must have a basic computer knowledge like Microsoft office suites, and a little of graphic design will be an added advantage.

2. WRITING SKILL:
Going to school is not enough to be called a graduate. You should be able to put your observations, experiences and skills in writing for others to read and understand what you intend to pass across. People write to express what happened to them or what they encountered. It is unfortunate sometimes that when graduates are done writing what they intend to share with people, they have to be coming back to the post trying to clarify people of what they intended writing. Learn how to write what people can read and understand your thought without giving the readers ambiguous view of what you intend writing.

3. HOW TO READ:
Reading does not entail reading your book to pass you examinations alone. There is more to reading than that. Reading also includes having patience to read long and educating articles, reading information and news in details and not just scanning through it without getting the gist in it. As a graduate, you should be able to educate the uneducated when they engage in arguments about things without any objective evidence. An example is when I saw two people arguing whether we have more male in the world or female. Although the argument didn’t concern me, but as an enlightened person, I had to stop to clear them on the fact that we have more male in the world than female and I backed my claim up with a simple Google search.

4. DRESSING SKILL:
Dressing becomes a thing of concern the moment you become a graduate. There is a saying that you are addressed the way you are dressed. It does not matter whether you are interested in looking for a job or not. The point is that maturity should come with some modesty and decency in dressing. Learn how to knot tie, how to wear the best combination of clothes without looking like an alien.

5. CONTROLLING SKILL:
Controlling encapsulates learning how to control your emotions and also how to control others in a group. You should be able to control students in the classroom without feeling shy or intimidated. Learn how to control people in any group or organization you find yourself. Controlling doesn’t mean commanding but ability to say yes and let your yes stand. Don’t appear unserious and kidding all the time. Have some element of seriousness in whatever you do if you want people to take you serious. The world of work does not accommodate clowns please!

6. DRIVING SKILL:
Ability to drive a car is an added advantage to you because it shows maturity. Whether you have a car or not is not the issue. You need to learn to drive if not for any other thing, for cases of emergency and also knowing how to drive will act as a motivation for you to buy your own car. Car is a need in this modern society as a family person and not a want so learn how to drive today and get a car to carry your wife and children when they finally arrive.

7. HOW TO EAT:
Eating habit is very necessary and also shows sign of being matured. Some persons don’t know how to eat, what to eat and when to eat. This is one of the reasons some do get embarrassed in the public when they start purging. A child is allowed to eat from anywhere anytime, but as a grown up, you have to mind what you need and how you eat it. This is common among girls. They will collect biscuit from one friend, eggroll from another and they will still sip zobo from another friend, these in one person’s stomach?
Some people when they are eating, it will be like a dog is eating from the plate, the kind of animal noise they will be making.  It is possible to eat without letting the person next door know that you are eating, common! Chew with dignity and leave trash for lawma jor.
